Insane Pride

Daniel 4:30-31 NLT:

Nebuchadnezzar said, “Look at this great city of Babylon! By my own mighty power, I have built this beautiful city as my royal residence to display my majestic splendor.” While these words were still in his mouth, a voice called down from heaven, “O King Nebuchadnezzar, this message is for you! You are no longer ruler of this kingdom.”

At that, Nebuchadnezzar went insane – literally insane for 7 years! The sin of pride leads to insanity!

Pride is the mother of all sin, and God hates it above all else. The Babylonian spirit that has seduced our culture has done so by creating worshipers of the human self in rebellion against worshiping God. The warning from our God at this time to our culture should cause a chill in the spine and deep sobriety:

Isaiah 47:8-11 NLT:

“Listen to this, you pleasure-loving kingdom, living at ease and feeling secure. You say, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other. I will never be a widow or lose my children…’ Yes, these calamities will come upon you, despite all your witchcraft and magic.

“You felt secure in your wickedness. ‘No one sees me,’ you said. But your ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’ have led you astray, and you said, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other.’ So disaster will overtake you, and you won’t be able to charm it away. Calamity will fall upon you, and you won’t be able to buy your way out. A catastrophe will strike you suddenly, one for which you are not prepared.

I’m not a doomsday preacher. I believe in God’s graciousness (or the stump). I believe revival is brewing. But I cannot ignore the accelerated drunkenness on pride that is all around us. The signs of insanity (because of pride) are screaming. It’s insane for a male to think he’s a female. It’s insane for a schoolboard to think they have more authority over a child than their mother and father. It’s insane to attack the protectors and let the criminals go free. I could go on! God will not tolerate this spirit forever. Judgment for the prideful spirit of Babylon is coming (Revelation 14:8).

Let us all take this time of prayer to humble ourselves before God. Call out to God for revival. Repent on behalf of a proud nation. Let’s pray.

Prayer:

All powerful Father and God, we humble ourselves before Your holiness. You are God! We cry out because of the insanity that has gripped our nation. We cry out for an outpouring of Your Spirit to save people. Send revival on Your church. Empower us to defeat the spirit of Babylon. Anoint us with Your anointing for this hour, in Jesus’ name!
