Daniel 6:10 NLT
…[Daniel] went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.
Daniel’s prayer posture was knelt down with his window open toward Jerusalem. His heart longed for his homeland. He knew the promises of God to restore his people back to Jerusalem from both Isaiah and Jeremiah. And so, Daniel turned toward the promise of God in faith… toward Jerusalem.
Stacy and I have a particular young man we pray for often. We pray, “Father, thank You that he’s whole and restored to You…He’s in church and worshiping You…and his wife and family are blessed.” Currently, he is none of those things. But we pray with our “window open toward” the promise we believe that we have.
Paul says, “He is… the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were” (Romans 4:17).
As I began in prayer this morning, I felt especially moved to place this devotional on this day. God is speaking to someone today in a very specific way. Pray “toward” His promise today.
Today, we will pray from Psalm 28:2, 6-7.
Prayer
Father, hear my prayer for mercy as I cry out to You for help, as I lift my hands toward Your holy sanctuary… Praise the Lord! For You have heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust You with all my heart. You help me, and my heart is filled with joy. Thank You, in Jesus’ name.
