Mark 1:15 NLT

“The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

Kairos is a Greek word that means the “appointed time in the purpose of God.” What God has promised by prophecy has now arrived.

As Daniel 5 opens, our hero has been dismissed from his position and sidelined for about 10 years. Belshazzar, the evil grandson of Nebuchadnezzar, is now king. He has thrown a drunken orgy for his nobles to honor his god, Bel. Belshazzar takes the gold and silver goblets stolen from the temple in Israel and uses them to mock the God of Heaven. God Almighty takes issue with Belshazzar and crashes the party, spoiling the whole mood.

Meanwhile, Daniel sits alone in his room holding an old letter sent to him from Jeremiah. It reads, “The Lord says, ‘You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’” (Jeremiah 29:10-11 NLT).

Old Daniel has been counting the years. Hope and faith rise as he realizes the time is close. Suddenly, a loud knock on the door. The king’s soldiers appear with a sense of urgency. “The king needs you at once.”

As we will see throughout this coming week, the specific prophecies of God, as found in Daniel chapter 5, will arrive exactly as He says: on time and fulfilled with perfect accuracy. God is faithful to His promises.

For us today, let our faith be fueled with the anticipation of God’s faithfulness. Your promise from God has not been forgotten. You will have a day – an actual date with a time – when you say, “The time promised by God has come at last!” Kairos

Prayer

Father God, You are faithful! You have assigned a date and time to every promise. You know the plans You have for us, and they are good plans. We rest today knowing our Kairos date is approaching, in Jesus’ name!
