Daniel 3:27 NLT:
Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke!
Hebrews 7:25 NIV:
Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
Jesus interceded for Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego and saved them “completely” from the fire. So completely, they didn’t even smell like smoke. And Jesus is doing this for you and me in this moment.
We know Jesus as a past Savior who lived, died, and rose for us. We know him as a future Savior who will come again for us. But now? What is Jesus doing right now? HE’S INTERCEEDING!
Intercession means that at every moment, the living Jesus applies the power of His past sacrifice for our present help. He’s our advocate before the Father (1 John 2:1). He’s our defender from the accuser (Romans 8:33-34). Jesus is standing for us in the present, moment-by-moment.
It’s common to doubt our salvation. Almost all of us have times when we “feel” less saved, partially saved, or even unsaved. If our moment-by-moment behaviors were what saved us, those insecurities would be warranted. We would be partially saved. But it’s not our moment-by-moment life that keeps us saved. It’s His! He ever-lives to make intercession for us; and because of that, we are saved COMPLETELY!
Right now, the power emanating from Jesus is saving you, healing you, protecting you, cleansing you, purifying you, keeping you… And He ever-lives to do it “completely.” Be confident! No smoke-smell!
Prayer:
Father, we praise You because who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us —The Lord Jesus Christ, who was raised to life for us — is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us (Romans 8:33-34). Thank You for being the Author and Finisher of our faith, in Jesus’ name!
