Daniel 1:21 NLT:
Daniel remained in the royal service until the first year of the reign of King Cyrus.
Daniel remained in royal service until the first year of King Cyrus. Evil Nebuchadnezzar came and went. Belshazzar came and went. Darius came and went. Then Cyrus. But after all these kings reigned and died, Daniel was still standing.
I’ve lived long enough to see the sustaining power of God in my own life. I’ve been deeply discouraged and felt defeated, but He brought me through. I’ve been in over my head with the demands of leadership, but God supplied wisdom and strength just in time for me to fulfill my responsibilities. I’ve been opposed by strong men, but God removed them and restored my confidence. I’ve faced temptations and weakness, but God’s grace has been sufficient. I can recall 100 times when God could have given up on me and let me go, but He didn’t. I’m still standing!
In prayer one morning, I asked God if He was tired of me. I mean after all these years, I should be stronger in areas. Surely He should not have to hear me pray the same prayers and confess the same weakness for 60 years? I opened my Bible randomly and began to read:
Isaiah 46:3 NLT:
I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.
Now my hair is “white with age,” and He is carrying me. God’s not tired of you. He’s keeping and, sustaining you. And when this current battle, stress, or opposition has ended, you’ll still be standing!
Prayer:
Thank You, Father! You are long-suffering and gracious…patient and committed. You have given me Your enduring spirit and sustained me all these years. I praise You for Your faithfulness to keep and sustain me. I know by faith that I’ll still be standing, in Jesus’ name! Amen!
